Why 2FA is mandatory for investing
2FA is part of reaching the Complete tier of your account — the tier that unlocks full investment access. You can browse and verify your account without 2FA, but you cannot place commitments, subscribe, redeem, or trade on the secondary market until 2FA is set up.
Why this matters
Investments move real money in significant amounts. Two-factor authentication adds a second proof of identity — something you have (your phone) in addition to something you know (your password). Together, they make unauthorised access to your account dramatically harder.
Specifically, 2FA protects against
- Stolen passwords — if someone obtains your password through phishing, data breach, or social engineering, they still can't get in without your authenticator code
- Credential stuffing — attackers trying lists of leaked passwords from other sites won't get past the 2FA prompt
- Account takeover — makes it far harder for someone to log in, change your contact details, and redirect your funds
This is also a regulatory expectation
